“Despite gloomy weather, we had a brilliant holiday and the kids already want to go back!”
Accommodation is exactly as described and pictured on the website. Lovely and clean, tidy and nicely presented.
In a quiet residential area, very peaceful. Nice enclosed garden for the children to play in.
About a 20 minute walk to the beach (with two small children), probably less without having to drag little ones behind you!
Plenty of off road parking
Modern, clean and very comfortable.
Perhaps a few books or toys for younger children would have been appreciated.
Local Gems:The kids loved Peasholm Park and the miniature railway in Scarborough, Scarborough Castle, NYMR Pickering to Whitby.
If it rains and you have small children, the boys enjoyed John Bulls’ Rock Factory outside Bridlington - tour of the factory, roll your own stick of rock.
The soft play area next door is excellent too.

“Very good holiday, excellent accommodation”
Very good accommodation, matched description and pictures on website. High quality attention to detail both inside and out.
Welcome pack including tea, coffee, bottle of wine, and lots of useful information and maps (with tide times).
Spotlessly clean.
Nice quiet setting.
Easy walking distance into town and beach.
If you are planning a day at Filey beach, check the tide times. We went down armed with buckets & spades, only to find the tide was in!
Local Gems:Good kids’ play park nearby on Pasture Crescent.
The beach at Hunmanby Gap (a couple of miles south of Filey) is good.
Sewerby Hall (in Bridlington) is a good day out for adults & kids alike. You can take the land train from there along the coast into Bridlington.
We enjoyed Peasholm Park in Scarborough, and the mini railway from there along North Bay.
Excellent farm shop & cafe (Redcliffe Farm Shop) at Lebberston, just off the A185 north of Filey, behind the Plough Inn.

“Fantastic - thoroughly enjoyed it”
The accommodation was fantastic - very comfortable and everything was of good quality.
The DVD stopped working but was fixed almost straight away by the family.
The owners were very welcoming and took time to show us round their property.
Couldn’t have asked for anything more!
High specification - very clean and all our needs were catered for
Be Aware:Nothing - it was all there - and more!
Local Gems:We have two very small children so we went to the beach most days

It is located on a quiet road, yet is only 10-15 minutes’ walk to the town, and just a little further to the beach.
It is ideally situated for exploring the Yorkshire Coast

“The best property ever rented in 20 years plus! Thanks! We will be back”
The advert really doesn’t do Merlin Cottage justice! - the location, standard of decoration and comfort all exceeded our expectations.... The garden, use of a BBQ, garden seating. And all wonderfully peaceful.
Beautiful property, well-equipped, in a lovely quiet location that is still within easy driving distance to visit Scarborough, Whitby etc.
Thoughtful touches such as tea, coffee, loo rolls mean you don’t have to immediately drive to a supermarket!
Lovely and restful property in quiet street you can just sit and relax. Very thoughtful and kind touches everywhere, instructions for oven, shower etc.
Beaches are all a short drive away although parking can be a problem. Filey - clean beaches, lots of clean loos nearby, clean, quiet and not commercialised.
Beautiful area for walking. There is a car park near the Children’s Park that has a short cut to the beach - downhill but accessible for prams or wheelchairs. GBP 2.50 for up to 4 hours. Not well signposted though!
Well-equipped, useful cleaning products provided and things such as cooking foil, condiments, loo rolls.
Location is excellent for visiting other areas.
The walk into town is a bit longer than we expected, though it is not a difficult walk.
Parking in the town and at the beach can be difficult.
We would have liked a mattress topper on the double bed as the bed is very firm.
Softer pillows (without the plastic covering as it made us too hot!) - would have made it perfect.
Directions to the supermarket would be handy
The Clock Cafe in Filey town nice for coffee and cake and not expensive.
Downcliffe House Hotel on the sea front does fab coffee and cakes - more expensive than The Clock, but it’s on the sea front and worth it!
Scarborough - great beaches and shops
Avoid Whitby! - so busy!

“FANTASTIC!”
An excellent standard of accommodation on a quiet estate around 15 minutes’ walk to the sea front.
The owner was waiting to welcome us when we arrived.
The cottage is well furnished and finished to a high standard.
It made our first family holiday with our young son much easier with a highchair and travel cot provided.
Will recommend without hesitation and will return!!
Home-from-home with every need catered for including that of a young baby with the provision of highchair and a travel cot.

“Brilliant”
We had a lovely relaxing holiday over the Christmas period.
The cottage is fantastic, a real gem!
We did not get out as much as we would in spring or summer, but when we come back we will explore a bit more of the area. And we can’t wait to come back!!
The only complaint was that we had to leave!! Accommodation is first class
Clean, modern, good location and very comfortable
Local Gems:We had a nice night out at The Star - good atmosphere.
The Clock did a lovely breakfast

“Excellent - would DEFINITELY recommend to friends. Very good value”
Merlin Cottage certainly exceeded our expectations.....every single thing we might have wanted was there. The kitchen was better fitted out than my own!
Lovely area, very friendly neighbourhood. Bungalow itself second to none.
I wish my own kitchen had half the facilities! Gave me ideas how to decorate my own house!
Bathroom encompassed luxury for grown-ups and fun for kids.
Can’t say anymore....was perfect
High level of luxury yet still family-friendly.
Peaceful, friendly area.

“Excellent”
We found the accommodation to be of an excellent standard - better than expected - clean and with good facilities.
Extra items such as BBQ and DVDs to use were very useful.
The accommodation is in a very convenient location within walking distance to the local shops, public transport and the beach.
We found child-friendly activities within all the nearby towns so had ample entertainment for the whole family.
We had an excellent time and can’t wait to come again.
Bathroom facilities are excellent.
Garden area
The only thing not provided was pegs for the washing line

“Enjoyable week at an outstanding property. First class - would certainly recommend to friends”
The Merlin is a real gem among holiday homes - we found it more comfortable and better presented than we expected.
The owners have gone further than most in making sure their visitors enjoy their stay at this superbly situated and excellently furnished and equipped bungalow.
The complimentary bottles of wine and carton of milk were just one of the special touches which set this holiday apart.
The Merlin seemed to want for nothing in terms of convenience and luxury. Highly recommended. We felt sorry to leave.
Owners have made a special effort to cater for visitors’ every need.
Local Gems:Get a taste of the sea with a walk along Filey Brigg
