Summary:

“A perfect base for a relaxing holiday”

I spent a week in Stornoway just relaxing and recharging the batteries. The place is beautiful with some wonderful beaches and lovely walks.

The flat was everything I could have wished for, warm and welcoming.

Mrs Maclean met me at the airport and took me to the flat, since I did not have transport, I had arranged beforehand for her to do a grocery shop for me.

The flat, which is on the first floor, is in a quiet part of Stornoway but there was easy access to the main town. There was a bus stop nearby but I never used it as the town centre was a gentle stroll.

The flat was well equipped and the kitchen cupboards were stocked with useful condiments so I could cook without having to buy everything from scratch - I have been to places before where you have to bring your own salt!

I didn’t do much TV watching while I was there but both the living room and the main bedroom had a TV-DVD.

I would happily recommend Westview to anyone who is thinking of going up to the Isle of Lewis as a great base. It was clean and cosy and Mrs Maclean was very helpful.

Specifically Recommend:

I liked that it wasn’t just the flat but that I could sit out in the back garden and enjoy the sunshine.

Local Gems:

The Woodland Centre in the Castle Grounds.

The beach at Coll and the beach at Tolsta - miles of unspoilt white sand.

Summary:

“Perfectly perfect in every way!”

This was an ideal base for our requirements. It’s clean and bright and beautifully furnished, in a quiet neighbourhood and a six minute walk from the town centre and all facilities. It was particularly convenient to have a large supermarket three minutes’ walk away.

The view from the living room is of the Golf Course which forms part of the grounds of the Castle, where they also host the fantastic Hebcelt Festival. Very handy!

A very nice (and welcome) surprise was a fridge and cupboard stocked with breakfast goodies. A nice touch!

The flat is convenient for setting off to nearby tourist attractions such as the Callanish Stones.

We would definitely recommend it to friends and colleagues.

Specifically Recommend:

In the evenings it’s nice to take a stroll in the grounds of the Castle.

Also, there are a variety of restaurants within walking distance.

Local Gems:

Beautiful beaches everywhere!

An Lanntair Arts Centre.

Callanish Stones.

Hebcelt Festival.
