Summary:

“The bed proved to be the most comfortable I have slept in in B&B accommodation for a long time. Breakfast is to die for”

We went to The Eden Valley on spec with no accommodation booked. This was the 2nd B&B we looked at and didn’t bother looking further. The brochure provided on arrival doesn’t do justice to this excellent accommodation.

We booked the North Wing as we thought the private sitting room was lovely, along with our own front door - well worth the extra GBP10 in our opinion.

The rooms were smart, clean and very comfortable. Alan & Eileen proved to be charming hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them.

Breakfast was outstanding - fresh squeezed orange juice, cereal or fruit, full English or fruit-filled pancakes, toast and home-made jam, incredible. So good we have booked a long weekend return.

Local Gems:

The Shepherds Inn @ Melmerby

En Route:

Acorn Bank NT property near Temple Sowerby. The Red Squirrels were hiding during our visit but the gardens are well worth a visit.
