“Clean and cosy, home from home”

Ramblers Rest exceeded our expectations both in terms of cleanliness and comfort. Much thought has been put in by the owners to supply those little extras so as to create a home from home.

The location was ideal, within easy driving distance of Windermere and Ambleside. The local pubs are cosy and welcoming. We sampled food at the Queen’s Head which was exceptional.

Specifically Recommend:

The lodge would be suitable for all ages (a few steps outside). It is great for dog owners (many local pubs and restaurants were dog-friendly).

Be Aware:

Shop at local supermarkets - shop on site not so well stocked

Local Gems:

Take a 15 minute walk to the Queen’s Head for evening meal (dogs welcome)

“Fantastic, Fantastic, Fantastic!”

The lodge was spotless and beautifully decorated. It had everything we needed to cook and even games and DVDs to enjoy on the fab televisions that are in every room!

We had very cold weather but the lodge was so cosy and comfortable. Great pubs nearby with delicious food. The surroundings were really quite beautiful.

Perfect decking area outside lodge that can be closed-off to keep dog in and safe.

We all had such a great time. Lots of information about local activities left in lodge too with maps of area - very helpful.

Specifically Recommend:

Well-kitted out kitchen and very comfy beds!

Local Gems:

Mortal Man - great food

“Can’t wait to return”

Having previously stayed at Fellside Retreat I couldn’t wait for the opportunity to revisit Limefitt Park.... Ramblers Rest is another lodge for me to revisit!!.

As always, contact and information from the team made the planning and booking process a breeze for me. The experience of when you first walk into the lodge is just like coming home there was everything you need to make your stay comfortable and cosy.

The weather wasn’t on our side, which wasn’t a problem for us as we wanted to unwind so we took full advantage of watching Wainwright Walks DVDs which were provided - even the dogs enjoyed them ...when they woke from their slumber by the cosy fire...

Specifically Recommend:

Take full advantage of the walks right outside your lodge

Local Gems:

I love walking through Troutbeck off up to Ambleside..... stunning

En Route:

Windermere and beyond

Summary:

“Perfect stay at Ramblers Rest ”

I recently returned from a three nights stay at Ramblers Rest. I was slightly apprehensive about my stay as I was travelling alone (well apart from my dog that is). However, as I stepped into Ramblers Rest I immediately felt at home and comfortable.

The lodge is fab - decor, comfort, cleanliness were all 5 star. It had everything I could possible need from kitchen utensils to iPod docking stations! Each bedroom has its own flat screen TV with extremely comfortable beds which was great for early nights watching TV in bed after a day of walking!

The surrounding area is simply stunning, I travel a lot to the Lake District and this area is certainly one of my favourite areas. There are beautiful walks right from your doorstep. I also spent an afternoon pony trekking through the valley with Lakeland Pony Treks that are conveniently situated on the site.

I was fortunate enough to have some lovely sunny Autumn days and the veranda at Ramblers Rest is an ideal place to sit and soak up the scenery with a glass of wine. I stocked up on supplies at Booths supermarket in Windermere on my way to Ramblers Rest, as recommended in the information pack provide to me prior to my stay which was great as I didn’t really have to use my car then for the next three days.

Thanks to Simon and Mark for providing detailed information prior to my stay, I’m glad I bought the vodaphone SIM card as recommended! Truly a lovely place to stay, I spent my journey home planning my next visit

Specifically Recommend:

Ramblers Rest itself.

Local Gems:

Queen’s Head Pub - short walk from the site, had a lovely real fire and cosy atmosphere.
