“One of the most idyllic, comfortable, relaxing weekend experiences - I would recommend without hesitation”
What a fabulous stay, the only disappointment was that we had to leave! The setting is idyllic and the cottage so warm and cosy with views across the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside.
It has all the trappings of home from home. I would not hesitate to stay again, I can only imagine how wonderful it would be in the summer months, I would recommend it to couples (especially!), who would no doubt enjoy the bottle of complimentary wine from the local vineyard, what a lovely unexpected touch.
The settling is idyllic and the surrounding countryside is so quiet and beautiful that just to relax and enjoy this is a must.
In the event of you venturing out, you will be spoilt for choice, due to the vast range of wonderful attractions so close at hand from the beautiful Gloucester Cathedral to shopping at Ross-on-Wye or taking in a local pub for lunch.

“An ideal retreat”
We were made so welcome. The cottage is delightful.
The cottage is really well equipped and several little extras provided.
A really peaceful location but not too far to travel to several attractions.
Definitely on our ’’visit again’’ list!

“A lovely, quiet retreat in Gloucestershire”
The property is very well equipped, in a quiet secluded location.
The owners’ family were very friendly and welcoming and we felt totally at home there.
There was a lovely welcome pack and overall we rate this property very highly.
A car is essential for a stay in this property.
Be Aware:A car is essential for a stay in this property.
Local Gems:Gloucester City, including the Cathedral and the shopping outlet at Gloucester Quays.
Symonds Yat for walking and scenery.
Newent is an interesting local market town.

“Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our holiday”
The Poppies is a cottage attached to Middletown Farm in very peaceful surroundings. We immediately felt at home, the furnishings were very comfortable, and there were many extras provided.
The cottage overlooked the gardens and orchard and was very private. There were also plenty of leaflets and information about the surrounding areas and things to do.
If you are looking for somewhere to relax it is very peaceful, with just the sounds of the birds, no noise whatsoever.
Be Aware:You are approx 2 miles from the nearest town and not really in walking distance of a public house or shop, so you do need your own transport.
Local Gems:Listening to the band at Newent Lake on a Sunday, The Falconery Centre, The Three Choirs Vineyard and Westons Cider Farm - excellent tour and tasting.
Symonds Yat - very beautiful, have a walk by the river where the ferry is. Walk to the top of Mill Hill for fantastic views.
If you like cycling, as we do,tour some of the local area, very attractive villages.
Travelling from Yorkshire, only stopped at the service stations.

“A fantastic peaceful break away with so much to do!”
Both the website and the brochure gave an accurate description of the cottage but on arrival there were so many added extras supplied - a local bottle of wine, milk, tea, coffee are just a few
Lovely comfortable and quiet cottage in the country, approx 3 miles from the local town, Newent. Very relaxing.
Plenty to do whatever you want from a holiday and excellent information about attractions provided (a drawer packed with brochures, and two folders, one about the cottage facilities and the other about popular local attractions)
