Summary:

“Wonderful break away from home”

My husband and I were lucky enough to be able to get away at very short notice, and even luckier to be able to book Walnut Farmhouse. We have stayed in the area many times but not at this property, as it seemed a bit excessive for just the two of us and our five Cavaliers.

The house is fantastic in a beautiful setting and although we only used a small percentage of the rooms the whole place was lovely. We had a wonderful time relaxing in the sun room, with the dogs able to go in and out of the garden, which even though we have small dogs was totally secure.

The whole house was spotless on arrival and the goodies that were left for us were much appreciated. We met Phil, the owner, who we would like to thank for having us, and Sue at East Ruston cottages for taking our booking.

Thank you, Rob and Laura Byrne and Scarlett, Blossom, Frank, Belle and Ifan.

“Fantastic house and facilities - we would highly recommend”

The house was everything we had hoped for and more. Fantastic location, great walking straight from the door. Waxham beach and the seals are always worth a visit but the dog walk from the house was lovely.

Our dogs had the time of their lives. It was a bonus having a totally enclosed garden so they were safe to run around. Our daughter had only just had their first baby - he was 9 days old - and it gave us the perfect place to relax and enjoy him.

We will certainly be back, just keep on doing what you’re doing and I’m sure everyone who stays is guaranteed a fantastic holiday.
Thank you

“Walnut Farmhouse - very dog-friendly”

Although we arrived early - as did our online delivery - Rachel and Phil were very accommodating in letting us put this in the house. Walnut Farmhouse is in a nice secluded position and within easy access of the local beaches especially Sea Palling and Horsey where we saw the seals.

The dog walk around the farmland was enjoyed very much by the six black Labradors, and in the evening we all enjoyed sitting in front of the woodburner, Walnut Farmhose is a very dog-friendly place to stay.

“Will definitely consider this property again if we can get in! ”

Lovely farmhouse. So very dog-friendly and secure garden.

Lovely surroundings and walks close by. Lovely seal colony on the beach.

So many beaches to go to we couldn’t fit it all in in three days which is all we could get.

We were never disturbed and let ourselves in and out.

Lovely touch as we were left a few goodies and even the dog has some biscuits.

Very dog-friendly and lots of room for large parties.

So easy to book very efficient.

Lovely beaches and the house was so spacious

Local Gems:

Mostly beaches as we were not there long enough to visit pubs etc but lots of recommendations in the guest book on site.

“Dogs Paradise”

My husband, granddaughter, her husband, their 3 month old baby, myself our 4 dogs all enjoyed our stay at Walnut Farmhouse, it was very well-equipped, even our very spoilt pooches were catered for. The garden was great and very safe.

The owners were very kind and very helpful I have a severe health condition which requires me to use home oxygen and without the owners’ help with the delivery of my equipment I would not have been able to have my holiday so I am very grateful to them.

The surrounding area is beautiful we saw seals on the beaches, and found the locals very friendly.

Walnut Farmhouse is very comfortable and spacious - I would recommend it to anyone especially with dogs. Every year we struggle to find somewhere to go with our dogs, this is definitely the best so far. I only hope I am well enough to go next year.

“Lovely place to stay and totally dog-friendly”

We had a lovely week at Walnut Farm, garden perfect and safe for both children and dogs. House well stocked and lovely welcome basket of home made jam, fruit cake and dogs treats. Lots of space in the house to find a quiet area if required.

Owners provided lots of info on places to visit and things to do. Rare to find a place so welcoming to a large party with a large number of dogs!

Would recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay.

Specifically Recommend:

Very dog-friendly especially to people with more than one or two small, well behaved dogs like most holiday cottages.

Totally secure garden and great beach just a mile away.

Local beach was great and safe for the children and dogs.

“Superb Farmhouse for a large family gathering set in tranquil surroundings”

This superb large farmhouse has everything going for it,from the three reception rooms, dining room, modern equipped kitchen, sunroom, with washer and dryer, a little outside quadrangle for dogs to spend a penny, but also for the dogs is a large enclosed lawned area and gravel.

The upstairs has a selection of perfect bedrooms.....Master with en suite, and the other three with washbasins, and a large bathroom and downstairs a WC ,washbasin and shower unit.

The decor is beautiful and there are so many comfy chairs and settees everywhere.....and a wood burner in the TV lounge.

Specifically Recommend:

Ideal location for relaxation and walks from the property, taking in part of the Broads and the village of Sea Palling for a sandy beach, and cafs accepting dogs inside.

For children,Great Yarmouth is an easy run and and nearer is Wroxham with a marina and Stalham for shopping - several excellent takeaway food places, and a supermarket with easy parking.

Summary:

“In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Walnut Farm and would not hesitate recommending it to family and friends. Everywhere you went, you met really friendly and helpful people.”

Walnut Farm was a truly spectacular house with beautiful surroundings and fantastic views from the bedrooms. We were there for Christmas and it was decorated accordingly and together with these and the log burner (with plenty of logs supplied) in the evening made for a truly relaxing and peaceful atmosphere.

As there was a family of 9 for this period, we found it to be just perfect for our needs, with a well stocked kitchen that had everything you could possibly need, with a lovely welcoming pack of essentials, together with a jar of delicious marmalade too.

This property is a truly welcoming house that is well suited to a family of different generations, which also welcomes dogs.

Our stay there was wonderful, we really didn’t want to leave and having met the owners, found them to be very helpful and friendly. Would not hesitate to recommend this farmhouse to family and friends and hopefully to go back again some day ourselves.

Specifically Recommend:

Everything there that you need.

Local Gems:

The Nelsons Head was a very friendly pub that catered for our party and the food was delicious.

It was also lovely going to see the seals on the beach. We also paid a visit to Waxham Barn for a coffee and there was also a well stocked farm shop that sold scrumptious new laid eggs.

“Fantastic house - try it!”

It was our third visit to Walnut Farm and we still love it. The house is very comfortable and also draught-free. The large wood burner in the lounge is mega!

Our two Great Danes love it and they are very relaxed in the house which makes us feel very comfortable. We have been lucky each time we have been with the weather which has enabled us to use the dog walk which is great, nice and safe away from the road.

The welcome pack always has something nice to nibble on whilst waiting for Tesco to deliver our weekend food. Would recommend this house. Owners are very helpful.

Be Aware:

There is a caravan site there so sometimes I could imagine it being a bit noisy but out of season its very peaceful.

Summary:

“Fabulous house in great location for getting away from the hurly-burly and blowing the cobwebs away, but not too far from Norwich or Great Yarmouth or the many historic houses and sea-side resorts of Norfolk”

Fabulous, spacious, well equipped house with secure large garden, suitable for all ages and dogs not just welcome but positively encouraged!

In our case, it was not so much a holiday we wanted, but a convenient venue for a gathering of the clans to celebrate my husbands 65th birthday.

We enjoyed 4 days of entertaining assorted groups of family and friends, some of whom stayed over and others visited for the day (Wroxham and Hoveton railway station is a convenient 20 minute drive for collecting visitors from out of county!)

After trying to organise varying numbers of people with different availabliity, and accompanying dogs, to eat out in local pubs (most only allow dogs in the bar not restaurant area, so space for larger parties is limited), I decided to self-cater 4 separate lunches and dinner parties. We found it was far more friendly and relaxing to stay in the house ... loads of space and comfortable furnishings in the 3 sitting rooms which lead into each other gave us room to spread out, circulate and converse properly.

The kitchen is very well equipped, the only pieces of kitchen equipment I had brought from home that I used was my pressure cooker (for speed) and microwave steamers! The large fridge freezer and ample cupboards and drawers swallowed up my supermarket delivery, ordered online a couple of days ahead and delivered shortly after our arrival.

I wasn’t tied to the kitchen sink the whole time (there’s a dishwasher as well as washing machine and tumble dryer) ... we escaped via a 5 minute drive to Sea Palling for a blast on the miles of sandy beach with the dogs, as well as the very convenient dog walk around the farm. We didn’t go to Waxham beach this time as I was wary of taking the dogs while there are new seal pups on the beach, we did however, see four seals swimming at Sea Palling.

Specifically Recommend:

For local produce, both Cooks Farm Shop and Causeway butchers on the road from Ingham to Sea Palling and the fresh fish on Chapel Road, Sea Palling are recommended.

Local Gems:

I know the area well, my husband was born 5 miles away and, having lived in Norfolk for 20 years, I’m itching to move back!! It is very difficult to recommend specific attractions, Norfolk has so much to offer, and interests vary.

“An excellent choice - especially brilliant with dogs in mind”

A lovely spacious farmhouse that gave us plenty of space. A well equipped kitchen. There was lots of thought put into our dogs such as holiday collars, poo bags, homemade dog biscuits and blankets if needed and even a couple of dog bowls and dog beds.

There was a lovely dog walk but it does take you past livestock so be warned. The beach was nearby which although restricted between peak periods it was still a large beach to take dogs to at Sea Palling.

We took three dogs and one of those was a severely traumatised rescue dog with unpredictable behaviour. It was lovely to see this dog relaxed and happy with the knowledge of a pretty, secure garden.

We didn’t see much of the owners but they were on hand and very friendly and helpful.

Thank you

“If you want a roomy, relaxing, dog-friendly property this is for you”

A wonderful property, lots of space and a big, secure garden. In a lovely area close to local amenities if required. A lovely dog walk adjoining the property takes about 50 minutes to complete.

There is occasional farm traffic but this is to be expected, with the secure garden dogs and small children should not come in contact with it. If anyone needs somewhere to celebrate a family get-together, this is the place.

Specifically Recommend:

If there are a lot of guests there is plenty of room not to get under each other’s feet.

’’Thank you very much Celia for taking the time to write a review. So glad you were able to enjoy the space at Walnut Farm plenty of room for everyone even with the house sleeping 9 (plus a sofa bed if needed) As you say, a great house for a family get together and we have had plenty of big family parties in there. With 2 living rooms, the conservatory, the dining room AND the big kitchen it really is a generous sized house. “ A wonderful rural retreat”

A really large, comfortable farm house with loads of room and set in a peaceful rural setting but near to good beaches.

We actually had a problem in that the dogs got out of the garden but the response from the owner was first class and you can now truly say the property is completely dog proof.

An ideal place for families with dogs who want a relaxing time

Ideal for large families with dogs
