“First class accommodation.”

This cottage was absolutely first class. l cannot recommend it enough. All our needs were met and those of our dogs.

It was spotlessly clean and the beds were really comfy. It was so good to have the beach within walking distance and there were lots of good places to eat.

We have already booked for 2018

Summary:

“Fantastic break with East Ruston Cottages and even in winter months, White Cottage is delightful”

No wonder White Cottage is fully booked for all of 2016!

Wonderful retreat in a peaceful setting with a huge, fully enclosed dog-friendly garden with lighthouse view.

Spotlessly clean, lovely furnishings, comfy bed and superb sitting room, with wood burner. Generous supply of logs and a fabulous welcome hamper for both humans and dogs.

Dogs loved all the extras provided and close to glorious beaches. Delightful stay, thank you.

Specifically Recommend:

East Ruston Cottages is managed by Sue Allen, who is an absolute gem to have found! So much information on the website about the area, as well as speedy responses to bookings and queries. Her cottages are truly dog-friendly, with no silly rules about where your dog can and cannot go but you wouldn’t know you’re in a property that has been used by multiple dogs! An incredible find and my dogs and I loved every moment.

“White Cottage - a Norfolk Haven...”

White Cottage is a lovely cottage on the coast, very dog friendly with dog beds, bowls, leads and dog-proof garden. Even a dog crate if you need to use it - so you don’t have to bring one. The beach is 5 mins by car or a short walk.

For humans, a thoughtful welcome food pack, including a Victoria sponge and pot of homemade jam. Very comfortable and well equipped cottage with a book of recommendations for visits to local places of interest and pubs and cafes.

The local pubs are all very welcoming and most are very dog friendly. Plenty to see and do, no matter what the weather. If the weather is chilly - the log burner beckons. Or sit in the garden in the evening and listen to the sea in the distance - very relaxing.

Specifically Recommend:

For families and dogs.

“Absolutely Perfect ...”

This is the most amazing cottage, perfect in every way for us and our four dogs. Everything we could think of was supplied.

The garden is totally enclosed and the owners have also made the parking area totally enclosed. It made everything so easy with the dogs.

I cannot recommend it enough.

Specifically Recommend:

The beautiful fully enclosed garden.

“Without a doubt the loveliest, dog-friendly cottage we have ever stayed in”

Our extended family recently spent a wonderful week at White Cottage. The cottage was immaculate, tastefully decorated and had plenty of space for everyone.

It was extremely dog-friendly with a lovely large garden for the dogs to mooch around in. The children loved the games room. There was a lovely welcome pack consisting of local homemade goodies which we all enjoyed!

There are fabulous walks from the doorstep to the local beach which was perfect for keeping dogs and kids entertained. Would definitely recommend this cottage and we hope to go back in the future.

Specifically Recommend:

Lots of lovely local dogs walks

Local Gems:

Had lovely meals at Gunton Arms, The Star in Lessingham and Smallsticks caf - All very dog- and child-friendly.

Summary:

“Ideal cottage for dog lovers and non-dog lovers too!”

White Cottage is an ideal place to visit with three large dogs. Plenty of space downstairs for them to sprawl out and with easy access to a secure garden.

The house is also great for people too!! It has everything you would need for a short break with great couches and a wonderful log burner. Having all the wood we wanted was a bonus too - many places just come with a basket and then you have to buy more yourself. Even though the house is on the road we didn’t hear any traffic noise at all throughout our stay.

The location is good too - access to nearby beaches and plenty of places to eat close by and even a big Tesco for a big shop too.

Just remembered that there is a large DVD and book collection for those rainy days when you just want to hunker down with the fire roaring!

Specifically Recommend:

I would say that if you have dogs this cottage is perfect - plenty of space downstairs and lots of areas that you could escape to for a quiet read.

Summary:

“A dog-friendly cottage that really IS dog friendly!”

Lovely homely cottage with plenty of space for four adults and two large dogs. Very well equipped and beds were very comfy.

Large garden was great for the dogs and would be lovely in the summer to sit outside and enjoy the quiet.

The property is within walking distance of the beach and you could also take a cliff top walk to another beach Also within walking distance of a pub which allows dogs in the bar.

Specifically Recommend:

For people who have more than one dog this is ideal as it is sometimes difficult to find properties that will take more than one or two especially when they are large like our Deerhound-Wolfhound cross

Be Aware:

Property is right on the road but noise was minimal and fenced garden made it very safe for dogs

Local Gems:

Good beaches

So pleased you all found the house comfy and spacious it is indeed truly dog friendly but not at all ’doggy’ with the high level of quality of furnishings and decoration. Summary:

“Heavenly Beagle Hollibobs at White Cottage, Happisburgh”

What a quaint cottage !!. Beautifully furnished with lovely original pictures and bits and bobs. Log burner with a shed full of logs to help yourself to included in the price. Ten minute stroll through the village to the deserted beach which was doggy heaven. Beach combing was fun while the dogs ran and played.

The cottage could not have been more dog-friendly, dogs allowed on beds upstairs (with a throw of course), also allowed on sofa. Throws and dog towels provided. Dog beds, bowls, poo bags, balls provided. There is a freezer for raw feeders which was very useful and a fully enclosed garden.

Lovely welcome pack of dog biccies, eggs, fudge, cake, milk, bread, jam all locally made and all the things that you could forget to pack like washing-up liquid, foil, condiments, tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oil, the list goes on !!!.

It was our bad luck that when we arrived the central heating was on the blink (this is not a complaint), however Sue at East Ruston Cottages provided us with as many electric heaters as we needed and some extra refreshments (hiccup) to help keep us warm!! and throughout our time here was checking if we needed more heaters. I would have no hesitation in booking through Sue again and am looking forward to trying another of the cottages (if there are any vacancies) very soon.

Specifically Recommend:

For doggy people who like long peaceful walks. Lots of local pubs cafes, shops that welcome dogs.

Amazing miles of beaches and seals to see on Horsey beach.

Lots of little villages to explore round about.

Most of all to get away from the rat race, chill-out in peace and quiet.

Local Gems:

Beach

Truly Local in Stalham (everything produced within 35 miles of shop)

Kisi who are amazingly knowledgeable dog people, who make custom harnesses and collars. Also stock canni cross gear.

The fudge stall at Sea Palling . The butchers on a farm near the cottage and The fruit and veg farm near the cottage and the fresh fish shop in Happisburgh.

En Route:

No was in too much of a rush to get to the cottage !!

’’A second great review! Thank you so much Lesley. Considering you only had a short break at the house you managed to find out a lot about what the area has to offer and I am so pleased that you liked the house so much it really is a beautiful place to stay. Sorry about the heating blip (all being sorted) and only too happy to jump in and help out wherever possible when any of our guests have any problems. It was lovely to meet your dogs too I bet they loved their beach walks!’’ - Sue

“Super cottage, super location, go there!!”

We stayed four nights in this superb cottage and our only wish was that we’d stayed for longer! Very warm and welcoming, excellent facilities, very tastefully furnished and extremely comfortable. Lots of lovely little finishing touches too.

The most dog-friendly cottage we’ve ever stayed in (and we’ve stayed in many!), completely dog-proof garden and so nice NOT to be greeted with a long list beginning with please do not allow your dog to... A real breath of fresh air.

Excellent sandy beaches and some lovely little towns and villages close by. We very much look forward to returning when we can and thoroughly recommend it.

Very fast and friendly service from the company we booked through too, East Ruston Cottages.
